Anyone mind giving me a grammar check? Part 1?

I care about my students, teach passionately and create an active learning environment. Art is a demanding endeavor and I believe I must prepare people to become better, more self-motivated artists and students. I firmly believe that a student must have excellent foundation training in drawing and design before advancing into any area of visual arts. My goal is to teach people to learn how to learn and also to foster a "love of learning" and a "love of creating." I am a traditionalist in terms that I start from the basics and build from there. I fully agree with Vygotsky’s notion of scaffolding information for students. Art, to me, is something that gives form to the human spirit. I always try to teach my students to make art that does this. I am open to any representation or means to carry this out, as long as this expression is honest and from my students' hearts. I also know that all students learn differently but everyone can gain something different through visual arts. I am a challenging teacher, yet my students know if they fail at something they will get another chance. This is a fundamental lesson in life because there are no true rights or wrong in art. No student can make a mistake that can’t be corrected. I believe my effectiveness as a teacher is measured by my students and that I am firstly accountable to them. I believe that the learning process is best when it is collaborative between students and the instructor. It is my expectation that students not only learn from me and from each other, but that I learn from them as well. The connection and energy established between my students and me is a powerful teaching technique that I utilize in creating an optimal learning experience My ultimate goal as an instructor is to essentially create a rippling effect in the lives of my students. Not only do I want them to gain concrete knowledge in visual arts, more importantly I want them to apply the knowledge they have gained from their participation in my course into their own personal lives. I hope that the learning experience would positively influence how they view themselves and the world. A lofty goal to some perhaps, but a goal I believe in wholeheartedly and one that will continue to motivate me. This has been an extremely rewarding journey and one which I plan to continue on indefinitely. Thanks- I am a student..... so it's hard to find someone to check my papers and my teachers said my grammar is terrible.

  1. As a teacher, I can tell you that you do not need to come here for this, you have it all. Your grammar, syntax, and spelling is fine. Proper use of conjunctions and no sentences that ended in a preposition. Your ideas are well thought out and presented. Um, you did not indent...! Please, next time, run it by a colleague!
  2. The only criticism i have is the opening sentence. It just feels as if i'm reading from halfway through a paper. Maybe just add 'As a teacher' to the start. ^^
